التيرانوصور ركس هو واحد من أشهر الديناصورات وأكثرها دراسة.
عاش في العصر الطباشيري المتأخر، أي قبل حوالي 68 إلى 66 مليون سنة.
وكان من أكبر الحيوانات آكلة اللحوم التي عاشت على سطح الأرض.

🔹 أبرز خصائصه:

• الحجم: كان ضخماً جداً، حيث يصل طوله إلى حوالي 12 متراً (40 قدماً)، ويزن ما بين 8 إلى 14 طناً.
• الفك: امتلك فكين هائلين وقويين مليئين بأسنان حادة، مما جعله صياداً شرساً ومفترساً مخيفاً.
• الأطراف الأمامية: كانت يداه الأماميتان صغيرتين جداً مقارنة بحجم جسمه الضخم، ولكنهما كانتا قويتين رغم صِغَرهما.
• موقعه في السلسلة الغذائية: يُعتقد أنه كان على قمة السلسلة الغذائية في بيئته، حيث كان يصطاد الديناصورات العاشبة مثل تريسراتوبس وإدمونتوصور.
• انقراضه: انقرض التيرانوصور ركس في حدث الانقراض الجماعي في نهاية العصر الطباشيري، وهو الحدث الذي قضى على معظم أنواع الديناصورات.
